ZAP WANDERLUST: TEAM ZAP TRAVELS TO FINLAND

To celebrate the inaugural Finnair flight from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport to Helsinki, Zapwater hosted a group of media on the inaugural flight. Journalists in attendance joined from Dallas and New York to experience what Helsinki and Lapland have to offer. From catching the Northern Lights to feeding reindeer, join Zapwater Chicago’s office Account Director Kalli LeVasseur as she makes her way through Finland.

In the heart of Helsinki, we visited Amos Rex art museum where we were able to get a sneak peek at a new exhibit. Walkable and simple to get around, we explored the beautiful city as the locals would – on foot and by using the public transportation system, including a stop at Oodi, otherwise known as the “Living Room” of the city. Beyond books, the multi-story library offers games, music studios, 3D printing, and more for free or at cost of materials. It’s no wonder the Helsinki is such a mecca for design and creativity! Additionally, we tried the redrib survival suit floating experience, where we got to experience how it feels to float around in cold water while staying warm and dry! It was a calming experience unlike anything.

In Levi, based in the Lapland region where many Finns visit for winter vacation, we stayed in the beautiful glass igloos at Levi Inglut. We were lucky enough to catch the Northern Lights on our first night! We also visited the HaliPuu forest where we enjoyed some of the award-winning nature experiences including arctic cocooning in hammocks in the peaceful, soothing atmosphere of the HaliPuu – hugging forest – while breathing in some of the freshest air in the world. Following the arctic cocooning experience, we gathered around a fire for homemade cookies and drinks by the world’s only campfire barista. The team also visited the culturally rich reindeer farm, Samuun Tupa, that has become a favorite place for many people, where the media got to explore unique activities and programs and feed the reindeers!

Planning your next vacation? Consider visiting the happiest country in the world, Finland!
