What to Watch: Downsizing
It’s the most wonderful time of the year: award season. Get out the popcorn ladies and gents… it’s going to be a good one. One of my favorite things to do over the holiday season is go to the movies, and this year did not disappoint.
If you are looking for an entertaining, comical and semi-outlandish film, check out Downsizing. As a solution to overpopulation, scientists discover a way to shrink humans to five inches tall. The film follows the journey of Paul (Matt Damon) and his wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) as they decide to abandon their stressful lives in order to “get small” and move to a new downsized community. Everything in the downsized community is bigger and better at a very small cost… or is it?
After a few twists, turns, unforgettable characters and emotions all over the spectrum, I left the theater feeling amused. It’s not my #1 pick of the year, but it’s one of my recommended “must-sees.” Happy watching!
