As you may have heard, Icelandair is launching year-round, non-stop service from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Keflavik International Airport in Iceland on March 16, 2016. The flight is a mere six hours! Additionally, the airline has a long-standing stopover incentive that allows passengers flying to one of Icelandair’s 20-plus destinations in Europe to spend up to seven nights in Iceland for no additional fare.

Icelandair will initially offer four weekly round-trip flights and at just the right time, with the number of visitors to Iceland more than doubling to almost one million in 2014. Travelers will enjoy lush natural beauty; a chance to see the Northern Lights; a quick dip in the infamous geothermal Blue Lagoon; or even just a chance to compare the Icelandic dog to the Chicago dog.

It’s no surprise that Lonely Planet dubbed Iceland number two in its list of top ten regions to visit in 2016! For those of you looking for a bit of Iceland at home, stop by the Taste of Iceland in Chicago from March 17-20. The four-day celebration is hosted by Iceland Naturally and celebrates the best of the country’s cuisine and culture.
