Meet Team ZAP: Carly Holstein

In an industry with a reputation for a revolving door, Zapwater Communications remains the place where people come to stay and as we continue to grow each year, we have the opportunity to recruit some of the best talent in the industry. This September, we welcomed Carly Holstein as a Senior Publicist. Carly was drawn to Zapwater for its stellar reputation, impressive and diverse client roster, and talented, creative and professional team, who she now calls her coworkers.

Carly is a self-proclaimed foodie and a hospitality veteran. Growing up in Boston, Massachusetts, Carly learned to cook from her professional-caterer grandfather, mastered the ins-and-outs of restaurants, and take out menus, from her mother, and discovered the notion of restaurant marketing from watching Phantom Gourmet, a weekly restaurant review show, with her father each Saturday morning. Thus after graduating from the University of Wisconsin (Go Badgers!), she sought out a profession that combined her passion for food and hospitality with her studies in Strategic Communications and Marketing.

Over the past five years, Carly has worked on both the agency- and client-side developing 360-marketing campaigns for a plethora of hospitality and lifestyle accounts. Most recently, she served as Director of Marketing and Communications at Ideology Entertainment, a small and growing restaurant group based in Chicago. Prior to that, Carly was as an Account Director at a small agency overseeing the marketing and public relations for her clients including Blue Door Farm Stand, Chicago Cut Steakhouse, Gibsons Restaurant Group, Table fifty-two, Giordano’s Pizza, Whole Foods Market, Maxine Salon, Marshall Pierce & Company, and Equinox Fitness Clubs.

In her spare time, Carly enjoys trying out the latest restaurants or testing out new recipes on her patient fiancé, catching up on Royal Family gossip and Soul Cycle. She’s a sucker for Sweet Mandy B’s cupcakes but will go on for days about her Classpass obsession – everything in moderation, including moderation!
