ZAP WANDERLUST: A Sweet Trip to Fairmont Mayakoba

Fairmont Mayakoba, Riviera Maya is located in the center of a luxurious gated community near Playa del Carmen and unlike any other resort. Our team led a group of five media/ influencers from the United States to experience a honey-themed trip.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts are committed to protecting the environment and one example is the Bee Sustainable program. Fairmont Mayakoba cultivates rare ‘Melipona’ bees which produce a type of honey known for its medicinal purposes. In addition to incorporating the honey in recipes, it is also used in spa treatments at the Willow Stream Spa.

On the first day of the press trip, the attendees prepared a cocktail using local honey and a dish with the help of Chef Damian Cruz. The honey themed press trip included a boat tour with Ecology manager Alonso Ortiz, a visit to a present-day Mayan community in Lagunachabela, a spa treatment at the Willow Stream Spa and more. It’s safe to say we enjoyed fun in the sun!
