Since the 1800’s, a boat has been christened by breaking a sacrificial bottle of champagne over the bow as the ship is named aloud and launched. Chicago Elite was christened by President and CEO of Navy Pier Marilynn Gardner with a bottle of Moët & Chandon.

The ceremony featured Alicia Roman of NBC Chicago as Master of Ceremonies, a performance by the Budlong Elementary School Choir and the St. Ida’s Children’s Choir, remarks by Vice President and General Manager of Entertainment Cruises Chicago Dan Russell, and a display by the Chicago Fire Department’s fire boat. Following the ceremony, Chicago Elite hosted a private cocktail reception with stunning views of Chicago’s skyline.
