TUBC PLAYS IN PEORIA

Because I wasn’t born and raised in Chicago or the surrounding suburbs, I never dreamt my hometown would have much of an impact on my professional life here in Chicago. See, I’m from the lovely city of Peoria, just 3 hours southwest on I-55. When I tell people that I grew up there, they typically comment on Caterpillar or make a slightly more awkward reference to Big Al’s. Google it.

It was during my first meeting with the Tricoci University of Beauty Culture team that I learned one of their eight Illinois campus locations is in Peoria! This was too good to be true. They referenced a few streets and I discovered that TUBC Peoria is just across the street from my high school. I quickly assured the team that I would stop by the next time I was in Peoria and that’s exactly what I did over Easter weekend.

I invited my mom to accompany me on this official business visit and with the promise of a manicure, she was happy to oblige. The energy at TUBC Peoria was amazing! Students were eager to see clients, teachers made frequent checks and my mother, the hair product junkie, was in salon heaven. One manicure and pedicure later, we both left refreshed and excited about our Redken and OPI goodies.

Now if I can just secure a TV segment on WMBD so that I can make another business trip to my hometown!
